Read MoreMost people would have heard that the Labor Government is initially changing some superannuation rules and taxation on super and pensions. At this point it is only targeted to clients with individual balances over $3mill in super or pensions, and will not start until 1 July 2025, possibly after the next election.
We have always anticipated that politicians will look at super as a honey pot for possible taxation revenue. Questions remain whether this is a contagion that will slowly seep downwards to lower balances in due course and what other measures Labor may bring in.

So how do the two compare?

Read MoreSince the pandemic in 2020 we have seen the cost of most commodities around the world increase substantially, some to levels never seen before. In particular the start of this year in January saw a huge spike in all commodities up until the end of June as inflation soared around the world.
These charts illustrate a much different story in the past month or so with some retreating back all the way to 2020 pre pandemic levels and others whilst not falling that significantly still saw them coming off their highs substantially.
This bodes well for cash rates in the near future to rise less than anticipated a few months ago, thus making stocks looking more attractive at current levels to investors for when the market recovery does get underway.

Read MoreTo cap off a very successful year 2021 calendar year for the Evolution Financial team and our clients, we were a part of the Xponential Technologies IPO, listing on the ASX on December 16, just prior to the Christmas break. Having been the cornerstone investors backing the company back in 2019 it was great to see the company achieve its short term dream of becoming an ASX listed company.
Brad Stewart & Ian Byrne from Evolution Financial accompanied by clients Bob Jones, Tony Briggs, and Paul Rissman are pictured attending the live ASX listing function alongside founder and CEO of Xponential Technologies, Matt Forman, held at their headquarters in Brisbane due to COVID19 restrictions prevented us from attending the Sydney ASX event.
